Day 54 and 55: Food, rest, and food

Day 54 and 55 – 6/14/16 and 6/15/16

Mammoth 903.3

Sleeping in a bed! Best night of sleep! So comfy. I woke up around 7 and 5 Star and I walked down the street to the Breakfast Club. I ordered french toast with strawberries. It was pretty good. Not the best I’ve ever had.

We walked back and watched TV until 12. At 12 Mad Dog and Alice picked us up and we went to a couple different outfitters. I was looking for some sun gloves, 5 Star was looking for a new shirt since his seemed to be growing, and Mad Dog needed a new stuff sack. 5 Star and I couldn’t find anything. After outfitter failure we went to Vons to get food for our two days to Tuolumne Meadows.

We came back to the room and went across the street to the Base Camp cafe. I got a pastrami burger amd sweet potato fries. It came on a pretzel bun! So good!

Came back to the room and vegetated some more until dinner time. We walked over to Johns Pizzaworks and I got a medium pizza with sausage and garlic. The pizza was good.

We watched the movie Everest. The movie was about the climbers that died in 1996. Bases on the book Into Thin Air. Definitely not something I have any interest in doing.

The next day we got went to Base Camp for breakfast and I got 2 breakfast bagels and a milky way mocha. Pretty darn good!

I went over to the bakery next door and I got a San Francisco cinnamon roll and a German chocolate danish for the next morning.

Did some more lounging before going back over to Base Camp for lunch. Got a beef sandwich and a salad.

At 6:30 Mad Dog and Alice came by and we went to get dinner at a Chinese place. Afterwards we went to the Fun Shop and hot milkshakes. They also had the fundae which is 13 scoops of ice cream for you and your friends and then you get your picture taken and put on the fundae wall. Had I known about this in would have came in earlier and ordered one just for myself. I could do it too. I may get Type 2 diabetes though.

Definitely going to miss the shower and bed but it’s only 10ish days to Lake Tahoe.

    • Thanks I was able to get service and I saw your comment when I was only a couple miles from that spot. It wasn’t too bad. We were able to go around the snow. We did see where someone slid down on the third snow chute. Didn’t look good.
